We recently took a spontaneous adventure day trip to explore two waterfalls on the Olympic Peninsula. While we were out there, I asked my husband to take a few photos of me, since I'd just turned 40 and wanted to mark the milestone.

I love how natural these photos turned out — adventurous, a little messy, not overly posed. They feel completely like my style.

If you're coming up on a birthday or any kind of milestone, I'd really encourage you to do something similar to capture that special time in your life.

These pictures are such a genuine reminder of turning 40, and I'm grateful I get to document this chapter in a way that feels raw, real, and authentically me.
